Single Speed chain skipping on cog, is 18/12 just too small?

at 1:1 and the power and snap required to do trials hops you'll tear the hub apart trying to hop and break your neck.
It's why they use freewheels instead of hubs. But since you can't run at 18t front ring (in the period) they put the 18t freewheel in the front.

It also dates to when resting on a bashguard was allowed. Certain positions could pin the chain. A front freewheel allowed the cranks to be rotated so you could properly preload the cranks for a surge.

hmm, didn't think of that one.
it's also fantastic at catching your pants and ripping them off while coasting.

Pretty sure there's shimano splined hub on the chameleon if it's the cheaper one
I haven't looked at it since, but I believe it is after checking the specs on the site. More expensive version has XD it seems.
