I know, you are tired of riding some teched out plastic bike that the forums had you sold on, you want a real mans bike with no rear suspension made of good old steel. Well, keep reading:

- Medium, yes medium as in 17” frame
- Upgraded to XT 11 speed with 400 miles on drivetrain
- 11-42 XT Cassette
- 34 Tooth Chromag ring
- SLX brakes with 80% plus pad life
- Industry Nine Hubs
- Stans Arch Rims
- SLX cranks
- Fox 32 air fork
- Cane Creek headset
- Adjustable rear dropouts converts to single speed with ease
- Setup tubeless
- Bike is ready to go

Sure, I have a couple buyers on the line as well as the same old tire kickers that read over this section daily, but let’s face it; you and this bike were made for each other, why fight it?

So message me and let me know when you are dropping my $1100 off and riding away in bliss.F26BAE2B-160D-404D-A6D0-E3F56AB9CF9B.jpeg915E7011-36D0-419F-92CB-4293D1152ECD.jpegABF5E2BF-92C1-42ED-92E6-14BE11D9805F.jpeg64DFE017-9D91-4E9E-B6EE-3676B2446C46.jpeg066DAB3B-A4E6-45B3-8A3A-F2834EE656BC.jpeg16E9B962-A431-4DF0-97CE-1F01E6AE6B2F.jpeg65E24C9E-815F-48BE-9C3D-D6D5587D2B8E.jpeg

As of this writing there are four El Mariachi’s above the fold in the FS section. Are all Mariachi’s about to expire?

This is nice. I’m not gonna buy it but I it’s nice. I could see myself owning hardtail at some point. After swearing off hardtails a few years ago I’m HT curious. How do these compare to “modern” geo bikes, whatever that means (tukt and slacked with 7mm stems or something?)

Good question. I think you have to make it what you want. Slack is not really in the cards here, but then again that is a different type of hardtail. I tend to drop the stem at -10 degrees and put on a set of 710mm bars. Beyond that it is stoopid fast yet surprisingly comfy. @Delish

People move on? How many of your old bikes do you keep? :) But in all seriousness, the El Mariachi was pretty damn popular for a simple hardtail, especially SingleSpeed.

The geometry of the El Mariachi was a little forward of it's time, at least the last generation. Very short chainstays (430mm at the shortest). With a 100-120mm fork you end up with a headtube angle that's relatively modern. The only downside to the frame to me is the weight as it is steel and I think it could be a smoother ride.

The alternator setup is awesome and it has a threaded bottom bracket.

I keep looking for different frames to switch to and there's not a great substitute. Bad geometry, hard to use SS, way too expensive, etc.

I can see why you gave up hard tails, but there's something about a SS Hardtail I don't want to give up. It brings new life to rides.

Looks fast. Nice build too. Good luck.

I like steel bikes. But, I think that if/when I build up a HT it'll be SS, rigid and carbon.
