Suntour sells whole assemblies to drop in their forks, rather than small parts. With the parts, they send the appropriate splined cap tool to remove/install top caps.

Just like any other fork: loosen foot nuts a couple of turns, sharp rap on the socket to loosen the internal shafts, then remove the top caps. The fork will slide apart after you remove the spring/damper.

Good for you. It is possible to be a mountain biker economically. Don’t let the disposable bike/income crowd sway you.

The one 2 things I didn't want to replace is the wheels and fork since I don't think it will carry to the next bike :(. I can't justify to my wife spending 500 on a fork and turn around in the spring and buy a whole new bike.

Oh yea, I built my buddy a bike last year and put on a Suntour fork. I had to change the travel and found it was quite easy to work on! I've since taken to servicing my Fox forx. If you work on cars this should be no prob for you. Best of luck.
