Yesterday I got out before work and checked out the repairs I made. Runs and shifts better. No pics.

Today I got out after lunch for a spin. All my local dirt was mush despite the cold temps but got a decent ride in anyway.

The snow was perfect today for riding. The park roads are still solid ice.
Yesterday I said how the Coyote tracks were perfect to follow, well today
I saw the bear tracks again and he follows no line, just plods through anything.
Right down into the big rock garden. Never follow a bear.

Did a loop on Bearfort Mountain in Wawayanda and then headed out to Hank’s Pond and back. None of these trails had any prior human tracks and I was riding 2.3” tires since my fat bike is out of commission right now (frame warranty pending). So, it was tough sledding but the trails/woods are quite beautiful and I look forward to riding a little more in this area of the park. There is an unmarked trail off the north end of “Spring North” trail which will need further exploration.

Great day for a ride today. The ice on the trails was just soft enough that you could ride right over it. The rain start earlier than forecast so we broke it off sooner than planned.

This is from one of my favorite seats on a plateau on the inside of a 90 degree bend about three feet above the trail where a fireroad T's in.

Of all the weather, I struggle the most to bring myself to get dressed to go ride in the "winter rain". I've been caught in the rain. I've tried to time a ride to get in before, after or between, the rain. But, when its already raining and expected to rain all day, I just concede that its an indoor day.

Gym, here I come.

It is never too wet to ride. :) Ripped around the fun paved golf cart paths at the local course and off-road bicycle paths and had a blast.

Uh oh, @Kaleidopete is slipping. Keep riding, bro, grind it out!

15hrs, 4 min (whoever Doug Delisa is, he beat me by 1 min)

209 miles

3 mtb rides this week now that we found awesome trails within riding distance.

First things first, had to celebrate my world champion Philadelphia EAGLES with a hangover ride on Monday:

Then some new trails - Sarasota County Off Road Riders (SCORR) built these trails called "Live long" and "prosper". Fun up and downs, twisting between trees along a winding creek full of alligators:

After hitting these trails, I rode another singletrack section they built thru pig country, saw quite a few, and some big ones. When I stopped to take this pic, I inadvertently stepped on a fire ant nest, and the swarmed my leg, stinging like crazy. Good thing I wasn't allergic, would've likely been doomed:

Then I tried to find a loop back to where I started, but the trails heading south were flooded much worse than above. I should have just turned around but stubbornly kept going. On one stretch I tried to push my bike through the water, when it got to my waist, I turned around and looped around slightly higher ground. Learned my lesson.

The best singletrack park around here reminds me of a mini-6mr, twisty as hell and many short little ups and downs, only with tropical scenery. The whole system (about 10 miles of trails) is built on a large island between both sides of a river. Lizards scatter everywhere on the trails. There are even some bridges:

Palm and palmetto roots look prehistoric and some are very large, I guess the SW FL version of rocks. Still many more parks to explore, I want to hit Alafia State park (about 1 hr drive) that's supposed to be fantastic, built on an abandoned phosphate mine so much larger ups and downs, similar to Santos.

It's never too wet to ride. But I can't afford to join a gym and join a spin class to play "yoga pants police", my dream job, so I got a little wet after the rain paused:

MUDD LOMB 00001IMG_00001_BURST20180211171801-01.jpg

A lot of mud and standing water, even on the double tracks. High trails were pretty good, doe.

I have been drafting @fidodie and @rlb (the dream team) and am preparing to make my move for 20th place.
