I always thought the one of the main point of this contest was about rule #5 which is why I've never joined cuz I am a wuss. My hands and feet get cold :p
I think it would be grave injustice to the tradition of this contest to include trainer time.

@CrankAddictRich as others have mentioned, I don't think anyone wants you out but just don't post up those trainer time.

To clarify, I'm not suggesting that anyone specifically wants ME out of the contest, just simply that the contest isn't for people like me. As I stated, I've got no interest in claiming I'm the hardest or I'm the toughest because I "hardened the f**k up and rode outside". When I can, I do and when I can't, I ride the trainer. In the end, all that matters to me is that I got the training that I needed. I'm not taking it personal and I'm not offended by those that think only outside miles count. They're entitled to think whatever they want. I know what's important to me and what I need to do to get it done. I'm also not super interested in jumping through hoops to adjust and regulate my Strava feed and I don't think its fair to insist that Fidodie sort through my rides. I'm sure he's got more important things to do, as well, like riding his bike.

I had all intentions of riding after my meeting yesterday but we got done later than I planned...plus I'm now fighting the chest cold/croup that most of my students have. So this week is pretty much a "washout".

Since I have no riding photos, here's a photo of the bulletin board we re-did yesterday.

Got out for a short snow ride yesterday, Thursday afternoon in the Mooch before it all melted and washed away. The rocks and leaves were extra slippery. Uphills were not very feasible on skinny tires, so I took an offshoot from Red trail that I infrequently take. The creek crossing was flooded and frozen solid, so it was easy to cross.

Since I was limited to the relatively flatter trail sections, it was a good chance to go on a somewhat flat trail that I haven't been on before.

In about 24 hours, all this snow is surely gone. (Sorry for calling you Shirley).

@C8N - I only have 2 rides to date and so you would not be far behind if you join now. There's still a lot of time left for longer rides when the weather improves!

Mother Nature tricked me today, at my house the temperature said 37°. I got to the park and it was 18°, yikes.
I was pretty well set though. I rode some trails and found some were soft and squishy and some were just fine.
I gave up and backtracked on the soft and squishy ones. I think they’ll dry out fine, or refreeze in a few days.
A light snowfall too.

I really miss riding the trails, but I hit the NJ Transit rails to the D&R again. With all the rain and snow-melt even the gravel beds were a mess. Surprisingly, the canal tow path was in great shape. I was even lucky enough to spot two bald eagles. I only managed to get a pic of one as the second flew behind some trees and I couldn't get a clear shot.

There's a pair of eagles that nest somewhere real close to me. They are always in the neighborhood, pretty cool seeing them all the time.

I think this guy must be one of their offspring.

I agree. It's nice to know the location of a nest and see these beautiful birds on a regular basis. Btw, great pictures! Where were they taken?

Sicklerville, NJ. The in flight photo I took from my backyard. The other was taken from a path next to my house that goes to a private lake that I don't have access to. I haven't been able to find their nest yet, but it must be close by.

Team MTBNJ Halter's
I rode outside today!
Marty's Fat 50
4:01:04 moving time, 48.5 miles, Giant XtC Plus.

Kept getting colder as the day wore on.
Toes were frozen by the end.
I've realized my endurance fitness is shit at this point. By mile 30 I was toast.

Bike coverd with frozen mud.

1 @CrankAddictRich Several of the participants wanted JON; not YOU!

2 I listened to a 18 minute racist rant by some Lunatic on the PATH Wednesday night. Can I post this to Strava?

3 I like rap music, too.

4 As the above lunatic said at least three times Wednesday, "I don't support tRump, but he has some good ideas..."( like dating porn stars )
