Replaced the chain that I broke the other day along with a cassette and 2 jockey pulleys. It was overdue and that chain had 3 quick-links going. So took the fattie out for a shakedown and mostly did road with some RR and a few patches of dirt. Of course i learned that the small chain ring should’ve been part of the “drive-train refresh”. So, that’s on order.

I want to thank everyone that's below me on the leaderboard for not riding, for I think I'm in the same place I was a week ago. However, I will be riding again this week. I suggest everyone else do the same. That's all.

It was good to get off the dirt and on the road for a little while. Almost took out a flock of turkeys and I ruined a fairly new tire. There's so much glass and crap on the side of the roads. One good thing about the trainer......no road crap.

Oh. That makes sense now. I live near New Market Lake and use those tracks to get everywhere.
Sounds like we are practically neighbors. I'm literally two 1/2 blocks from New Market Pond. It's def nice having the railroad beds as a way to get around on the bike and stay off the roads for the most part.

In the spirit of BIYF, took the fat from home to CR, which I've never done despite the proximity. Thru Greenwood Meadows to Long Rd to Crim and ducked in at the ball fields. Watch out for the ice flows. The minor roads are pretty bad after the brief thaw. Did blue then white and planned for red, but my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to explore the riverside for those other trails I've been wondering about.

Thank goodness for quality control, looks like they almost forgot to fastened the bridge to the main joists. Every section was removed to add the L brackets.

Damn, it's later than expected and gotta take kid to SAT class. Short cut down. And up Mt Horeb, which certifiably sucks on a 35lb fat bike

I decided to explore some areas I hadn't been before. The terrain varied and I made lots of Interesting little discoveries. I even found a way to get to Washington Valley almost totally off road from my house. It was a nice 3 hours on the bike, 2 1/2 moving.

It was a chance to try winter shoes with summer socks to see if my feets are just being compressed with thick socks.
Broke out the Christmas socks.

First thing I noticed was I didn't have to cram my foot into the boot. Duh. Okay.
Had room to move and wiggle toes.

Verdict: feet got cold, but not numb like with thicker socks. We might have a goer here.
