Wanted to hook up with some of the regulars but they were riding at 10am and I wanted to be back sooner for family reasons. But I was still hoping to get at least 30-35 miles.

Despite the cold temps this morning it did not really feel that cold to me at all. The sun was out for the first 20 miles so it helped keep me warmer.

Today was one of those magical days when the legs feel like they could go all day. Based on that I extended my planned loop and got back before noon with 45 miles. Today would have also been my father in laws 81st bday this is the first one since he passed back in May still sucks. Glad he blessed me with some nice weather and guided me away from any icy roads.

Freezer Burn

16 miles of frozen pain
moving time 1:01:55
elapsed time 1:09:36 (interrupted by 2 different phone calls of importance)

If the polar vortex and snow were not coming back this week, i probably would have done Zwift today but I thought since i survived 45 miles yesterday, I could at least do a hour today. I hate to waste the chemical warmers for a short ride so I went without them. My hands and feet didnt warm up until I was almost done and then the phone rang again. That and all my good cold winter riding gear needs a wash so my face and head were cold since the cap and gaiter were not warm enough.

But whos complaining, I was outside riding at least and thats a good thing but today was a good day to stay indoors too probably.

Snowblower is still ready from the last fake storm so happy shoveling tmw y'all.

Finally got my trainer going last night and will get on Zwift tonight. So is it as simple to link up to Strava from Zwift, so it gets to Pat's analytics? From initial testing, Zwift is still a bit boring. Are you folks watching a movie while riding?

there is a section for 'connections' which will post your zwifting to other sites...

We got about 4" of snow last night by me so any outdoor riding was not gonna happen since i am not taking a chance even on a MTB on the roads with the icy corners etc.. PLus the cold is just too effing ridiculous. Kudos to anyone who went outside at all today, let alone on a bike.

So since I have been taking it easy the last few days and I didn't have to do too much shoveling I decided to get on Zwift and do a Ramp Test to get some kind of baseline/data as to where I am this season. The result is some formula which gives you an estimated FTP that you would use for an actual FTP test, but I cant bring myself to try the 20 minute version of an FTP test just yet.

Anyway, between the warm up ride and the Ramp test I did 2 separate sessions and a cool down totaling about and hour. I got the complete tunnel vision/dizzy/just about to cramp/throw up feeling during the Ramp test so I guess I put in a solid effort.
