Halter's Cycles -- (31/31) 2018 Edition .. RIDE 1hr a day, EVERY DAY for the month of July.. Win $100!!

Forgot to charge my phone last night. Thought it might have enough. When I got home, no charge left. Plugged it in and restarted. Started Strava - nothing. Then as I stated typing this post, Strava restarted on its own - "recovered from an error and will continue recording" woo hoo!
Obviously, no pics since I was trying to conserve power.

Once again did the 1.6 mile River Rd Sprint. 4 seconds off my previous best (from 3 years ago).

FYI, Washington valley is getting resurfaced. Looks like from Brown rd. down passed the park on burnt mills. They were nice enough to make an asphalt ramp into my driveway though.

Rode CR for day 11. Lazy ride, trying to stay on the bike for climbs and obstacles.

Day 12 was more local roads type action. I'm finding some interesting stuff that i never knew existed lately.

13/31 was a nice easy cruise around the neighborhood and some exploration of Edith Stevens, some local trails I never knew about until partaking in this challenge. Thanks @pygmypony for touching up some of the blazes. It made things much more enjoyable than last time. I'm going to have to start getting my hands dirty to help clean up some of the sticks and branches to get this place even more rideable.

You can tell by the way I use my walk...

Finally made it to Halter's to get daddy a new pair of shoes. Fittingly, I put my 2017 31/31 GC towards the purchase.
I can't say how old those shoes are, but it's safe to say they are past their prime.
Something old, something new...

Thanks @jdog!
Shoes felt great on the trail.

And because I'm in the neighborhood, it's time for some Sick Smile!

Gorgeous day out there, and as fun as always.
Until....

I started having some ghost shifting both front and rear, and then when I was in the twisties, blammo.

I did not have any spare quick links, so I did a little trailside surgery with a multi tool. All that practice cutting and closing bmx chains paid off.

Was able to finish the ride and got the Six Mile tan!

On the way home I swung by my LBS to grab a chain and some spare links.
Dudeman showed me this and it is now in my pack.

Holds 2 sets of links, has a link wrench, a valve nut wrench, valve core WRENCH and a tire lever in a handy little package.

Ima go post in the beer thread now.

Day 13 was Okemo Mountain. Another itty bitty mountain. It was supposed to be an easy day. Unfortunately too easy and only came up with 53 mins moving time. There were two super fast trails, one blue and one black. Very fun, but again not a destination place, but the place has so much potential. I came upon yet another new bike lift variation , here your front wheel clamps into a jaw and the back of the bike just dangles.

To fill the rest of our ‘recovery’ day we took a adventure kayak tour where we had to jump 7 beaver dams in our kayaks. Such a fun, different way to spend an afternoon.

Haven’t posted in a few days, but I’m still in.

Day 12 I worked a 14 hr work day... got home around 9pm and jumped straight on the bike. Started on patriots path and it was super eerie. I’ve ridden it in the dark many times but something was different this time. Ripping through the swamp section with billions of fireflies going off was pretty trippy. Finished off with a loop around Motown.

Day 13 I lead a tour of Dickerson Mine with the mtbnj.com Fun Friday group. Much fun was had. It was my first time guiding a ride, so that was cool.
