Day 9 - Part 1 & Part 2. Kind of a throwaway day for me because I'm back on the shitty lungs asthma train this week. It's been over 3 months since I had an attack and I'm not sure what caused this one - there are several possible culprits, from the race I did Saturday to the yard work I did Sunday to maybe even the change in weather since Friday. Not sure, but I've had to break out the nebulizer three times in the last two days. I hate that thing - it does help but my entire body feels jittery and shaky for hours after I use it. Anyway, still alive ... but barely ...

Been a long first 9 days! (well 10 since I rode June 30). Logistics is the name of the game, always planning the next days ride.

Everyone keep hustling out there!

Boston for the 4th of July. Scoped out some spots to see the fireworks and cruised around Fenway. Boston is a huge bike friendly city. Bike Lanes everywhere. Drivers see you on the bike and give you the right of way! Blue Bikes, Ant Bikes, and Lime Bikes.

Big credit to guys that ride those Citi Bikes. They are vastly uncomfortable.

Got back late on the 7th, so late night rides it is, and I was glad to be back on my own ride.

The other big part of this trip was I picked up two new jerseys from the Harpoon and Sam Adams Brewery!

Day 10 - Took on Chimney Rock and lost. I was a little ill prepared to start this challenge but confidence grew a bit on yesterday’s six mile run adventure. If today was a prize fight:

Round 1 - Ballfield lot across street and over the new bridge and thru what I call Coney Island and stream crossing to Newman’s. All three judges had it even.

Round 2 - Newman’s parking lot loop making right shortly after entering and making the clockwise loop returning to Newman’s lot. CR beginning to get the upper hand during the tail end. Still Even.

Round 3 - Other side of Newman’s clockwise. Maybe the heat and humidity. But more likely fitness. Crawled around the loop regretting today’s route. Made it up all the hills with a lot of breaks. Would have turned around early if not for this challenge. Only joy during this round was finding a new trail (to me) alongside the old gravel downhill 80% thru the loop. Fireroad return had me contemplating the easiest way back to the ballfields. All the judges had me losing the round 10-8 and were surprised it wasn’t a TKO.

Round 4 - “No Mas”. Took a break in Newmans lot with a fig bar and stealth emergency Gatorade in the backpack. Back over the steam and along the reservoir trail over the bridge limped back to the car.

Survived and planning an easy day for tomorrow.

Day 10 - just an easy ride dialing in the brakes on the Enduro bike and bike-running the dog around the neighborhood . Saw a lot of foxes and mom & kid horse pairs out and about. Fox are too quick to get photos.

So far I have NJ, PA and MA. I may be in for who can ride in the most states by the end of the month.

10/31 I ventured over to some trails that I just learned about in the Edith Stevens Memorial Wildlife Preserve in North Edison. This place is literally right around the corner form me. Parts of it are basically a swamp and the trails are nearly impossible to make out but I think this place has potential.

Day 10 was forced, but I’m still here. I was feeling pretty shitty after driving back from Boston. Did a low key ride through the hood and played around on some stairs. Glad I made myself get out, feeling much better afterwards!
