If I reg for Lewmo challenge endurance cat, and I turn 45 the week after the race, may I register for 45+ masters? Or should I stick to endurance open...?
Yes. As per the rules I found somewhere, your racing age is how old you are on December 31st of that year.

TLDR: Yes, you can race 45+.

I have a stupid question- checked the faq's on bikereg, etc. and couldn't find an answer.

Yes I want to race with the older group because of my own perceived inadequacies... :)
You can register for 45+ when you are 44.

Age at end of year when Nat’s are held. So cross is 12/31 age of the next year. Mtb is 12/31 this year.

Guess you got something other than an ulser out of that USAC Officials Training :) Since C/X Nationals are back to Dec. for 18 guess would align everything.
