Goosepond Mountain State Park Multi Use Trails

There are four build days coming up at Goose Pond on a new segment that is about a mile or something. It is part of the Highlands Trail. According to OPRHP they want it to be a multi use park. The park has a lot of potential. Anyway, the last two weekends of October it would be great to get a strong volunteer force out there. Maybe we could join forces with some of the Stewards of Stewart and people from Joe Fix Its bike shop. They both have strong interest in the area I believe being that it is close. Can anybody reach out?

October 21 is set for mostly clearing, clipping, and blazing. The next day (22nd) and the last weekend in October (28,29) are set for side hilling.

Are there details on the times and meeting locations. If that was in the image you attached, it did not show up.

Here we go:

Hello Everyone

The time you’ve eagerly been anticipating has finally arrived. We’re going to finish the Highlands Trail relo!

We’ll install the final connection from the bog-bridge walk to the existing trail on Lazy Hill Road. Once that’s done, we’ll be able to remove all the blazes from the road walk on Laroe Road and celebrate having a trail section safely on preserved woodland. All the tireless work of land advocates and conservationists and trail volunteers will have come to full fruition, so let’s go make this happen.

The first date, October 21 will be a light work day, clipping a corridor, painting blazes and raking a path clear to see the tread beneath

October 22 we will begin tread-work where needed, including any side-hill construction and rock-moving where necessary

October 28 and October 29 will continue the work to completion.

Afterward, we’ll celebrate the new trail with a toast to one of our late volunteers on this trail, and to all of the persons who participated and made this a success.

If you would like to participate, please click on any (or all) of the above dates to sign up, so we know to expect you and can have sufficient tools and supplies ready.

Looking forward to seeing you on the new trail in this gorgeous fall weather. Bring your best buddies!
