Diablo for a 13 year old

My son is 12 years old (will be 13 in august) He has a 4 inch 2000 or 2001 K2 3000. I was wondering if this bike would be ok at Diablo?

I dont plan on going off anything big. Just looking for some information.

He better be a damn technical rider. Much better off leaving the bike at home and renting a DH bike. $100, but at least he'll enjoy the park.

Does it have disc brakes? I've seen kids there on 4" travel bikes- it can be done. Just start them slow with runs down Greenhorn to the fire road (skip Domboo to start) until they're comfortable with the speed and braking.

There are videos on the web of 5 year olds riding DH on hardtails- if your kid has the experience and skill, the bike doesn't matter.
