D & R Canal

With everywhere being wet today I am looking for some alternatives. Prefer to stay off the road, so I'm thinking gravel paths and whatnot. My total experience with the canal path is driving by in the dark and riding 6 mile. I've read that some is natural surface and some is gravel. Being that I expect the natural soil is similar to six mile, how much of a mess is it likely to be? Is there anywhere not all the way in Trenton where things turn more towards gravel and stay more firm?

The canal path is likely to be in good conditions just about anywhere you ride it today. Aside from the occasional puddle, you shouldn't see much mud and the surface is pretty compacted.
