Compressor for Tubeless?

I am thinking about getting a compressor to have around to use when I want to install some tires, and maybe also use to air dry my chain etc.. when I wash it.
Want something very small and light, since I dont have a garage or basement (live in Brooklyn).
Would either of these be powerful enough to get a tubeless (road) tire seated?.

these will fill a tire - they won't bead a tubeless tire. you need some air storage.
for tire filling, i have a ryobi battery op inflator cause i have the batteries...

there is that pump one with the air chamber - or get a small pancake compressor.

That handheld ryobi can seat a tire? Interesting.

They also make canisters that you can attach to your floor pump. Pump them full and release the charge of air into the tire.

no - it can fill a tire, not seat it!!! wonky wording on my part.

there is a hack somewhere to use 2 liter bottles as air storage. isn't so much the pressure, but the volume necessary....

That's what I figured. I got excited there for a sec, but didn't think it would work.

I guess I’ll drop some information on handheld rechargeable pumps spec to 120psi. I have been involved in development of a handheld unit. Should have one in my hands by December hoping that everything goes well. We already have some new ideas for V2 which will be even cooler but my friend is too far in to change. Not sure it will set a tubeless mtb. It’s been exciting to see this come to fruition through the months. I’ll drop a CAD file pic here. Will be just around 1lb and fit in your jersey pocket.

To set my tubeless tires I use the bontrager flash pump. Works great

I set the bead on tubeless with a hand pump just soap it up.

iv had this kind of luck with standard 29r tires(actually no soap required for my successes), or when popping only one bead (to top off/check sealant) but in general you need a tank for tubeless, bigger is betterer, my 2 gal wont seat fatbike tires, but my 60 gal has no problems (duh).

neither of those will seat tubeless, great for airing up car tire to turn off the TPMS light tho . . .

harbor freight sells an oiled 8 gal compressor for <$100 if you can find the coupon that would work for your needs

Alternative to a compressor, there are several floor pumps out there made specifically for seating tubeless tires. I've been able to seat all my tubeless tires with just a floor pump with soapy water for the last couple of years. I have a compressor for those times when they don't.

And this is something I'm considering looking into.

i have also heard of people using CO2 to seat tubless, but i fyou do alot of tire changes that could get expensive fast . . . .

Have you managed to seat road tires without a compressor? I was fine doing my MTB tips with the soap and floor pump method, but I recently converted my road bike to tubeless and had no such luck.

Road bike is still running tubes and doesn't get used much anyway.

Soap and floor pump. For stubborn tires, or something narrow like my cross tires, these are great if you don't have or want a compressor.

When I lived in bk I made a inflator from a orange juice bottle and the hose and chuck from a cheap pump I was going to toss anyway. It worked ok but I ended up getting the lenzyne tubeless pump. Which works well for setting up tubeless but is annoying for just inflating tires. Maybe the bontrager is better. I’d probably would have still gone the same route since it took up the least space and looks decent.

so these 'bottles' can be inflated with the small inflator in OP ! and we come full circle...

if you go a little overboard with portable air storage, ya get the mtbnj starting horn....

I have a 2 gallon nail gun/pancake compressors, works perfectly fine for popping tires on that I cant get with the floor pump....added benefit is using it to blow dry my bike.
