The Columbia trail is the exact opposite of the current thread on technical trails. It's literally a dirt road, not a trail. Actually, it's a very smooth dirt road. Agree with qclabrat's suggestion.
I've ridden part of the canal towpath along Delaware & Raritan, as well as the trail along the Delaware. Columbia, at least the northern portions, is butter smooth compared to those two.
