Cleaning Bike

All,

Just rode Stewart today and my bike is completely covered in mud! (great race!)

I was told by my local bike shop to never hose down the bike. Is this true? If so, what should I do to clean it up?!

Thanks

I hose mine down and scrub it all the time. At least a few times a season I take the bottom bracket and the rear hub out to clean out any gunk and thoroughly regrease, 'cause word on the street is that the water pressure on these parts wears out the grease and can cause bigger problems if left untreated. Also, make sure you are cleaning and re-lubing your chain often...

i agree with heythorp. however, if you are going to hose it off, only use the 'mist' setting, and avoid spraying directly at any bearing surfaces.

Or ride through the river, completely disassemble, reassemble, lube, and you're good to go.
