No SS for me, ever. I got My first 3-speed sturmey archer hub in 1967, and never looked back.

You can ride SS, which I have, rigid. However I find my Tallboy to be more fun. There is not as much elevation as Mooch North, probably closer to Stephens.

I've ridden mine there. You'll be fine, but I would bring the gears as the groups will be a bigger which could slow it down somewhat......or you can bring the SS and work on your track standing skills.

It's less than Stephen's actually. Back when I had a SS for one season I could ride it comfortably at CR but SSP kicked my ass. So I compared the elevation gains and CR was less. But I generally suck anyway, so take that FWIW
