So my XT brakes arive tomorrow.
They include a metallic pad, but my current rotors state resin only.
Question..
Do I just use the metal pads on old 1yr old rotors or get new rotors.

Did you also not take your first mountain bike off-road when the sticker on the fork stated not for off-road use?

Throw em on. I doubt they used some super soft metal for their rotors compared to other brands. I use metallics.

Shimano says that they aren't hardened enough for metal pads.
I'll give it a shot see how well it stops.

Resin-only rotors=not hardened. The identical rotors next group up are hardened. Metal pads will gouge the shit out of them, but if you're going to replace them anyway...go for it, I guess?

Srs response: stick with the resin pads you've been running. The calipers don't care what they are pushing, but rotors might.

If you want a set of fresh of XT resin pads, pm me.

The slx rotors are for all pad types.
They aren't that expensive will probably go with those.
Wish I saw this earlier would have got them at the same time.

Installed brakes today and need to cut the hoses. Can I reuse the barb and brass olive?
I need to cut 6 inches off both hoses.

I just checked and there are parts to shorten hose in the box.
I used the old hardware and never looked.
The front brake had the bleed blocks and small hose clamp and the rear box had the Barb's and olives.
@jmanic I just got a bleed kit for Shimano and bled the brakes I'm taking off.
