Thought this was interesting. They are tied in shipping 2.5 Million barrels. But...what does Yuengling have? 3 or 4 varieties? Sam Adams seems to have a new flavor every other week.

the price surging isn't solely based on volume, but also the "recent" mainstreaming of craft beers. sam adams has a craft "feel" to the consumer but maintains a pretty solid national presence. they've done a great job of expanding that brand (and the various flavor extensions) and still keeping it premium. not an easy task.

i prefer yuengling even though there are only a handful of varieties compared to sam
