Post up here if you can make it Thursday,

I don't know if I can make this Thursday, but I wanted to ask if you need to be "trained" or "certified" to participate in maintenance or can you just show up?

Currently no training or certification necessary. You will be lead by certified trail stewards. We will train on site for the particular task at hand for the session, so come on put when you can!

Folks. We met with the land managers of Blauvelt this week and had a very productive discussion. It's been about one year since PMTB was granted access to building trails there and we wanted to follow up to see if there were concerns and what areas we need to improve. Here are some of the concerns expressed by the NY parks:
1. Illegal and non-authorized (rogue) trail building.
2. Illegal night riding. The park closes at dark.
3. Riding under non-ideal trail conditions (mostly mud or wet).

We presented some solutions to the Parks to proactively discourage these activities which we will share with you in the next newsletter.

In the meantime, please be responsible and don't partake in the activities of concern with the parks. Future trail building and land access are dependent on our cooperation. Please feel free to reach out to Seth Reichlin or me for more details. Now here's a cool MTB picture to get you psyched for the Spring!

Blauvelt is getting some much needed love.

Palisades MTB and Jorba are replacing the Swamp Thing bridges this summer. On trail work began today. A lot of pre-cut wood was carried in and some preliminary digging/prep was done. There is still some bridge decking to be carried in and the bridge sections need to be assembled.

Work will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday at 9:00 am, access form Marsico Court or the Tackamack parking lot. Its all in the shade so it wasn't as miserable as it might be in this heat.

Materials for this project are being paid for by PMTB.
