Best advice i have received was when I commuted on my crotch rocket. Make eye contact with any car you are approaching and even then be so defensive as if every driver is trying to kill you because in a sense they are.

Another thing would be to always use a bright front blinky if you already have a light you use for night rides, that likely has a daytime flash option
