07/0: 55 moving, 1:17 elapsed Core Creek with the Old One
Core creek with my son, ride, alittle bit of clipping hangers, a little jumping, a lot of fun
We had an 1:40 window, 1:17 out on the trail but the kid stops a lot because it is hot AF and he wanted to wear my protec and got learnt as why you don't wear them when it is 90 degrees. I tried to make it 1:00 moving but he was ded at the end and I didn't want to ride in circles in the parking lot for 5 min. I have no issue being out of the challenge, @jdog
14 miles at the local park. I'm just putting the strava links in these posts. I'm going to try to take at least one picture for each ride. You just gotta click on the link to see it.
Day 6 - Short one today, but had to fit it in over lunch because I had a gym workout after work. No pics today because it was raining the whole tie I was out and didn't want to break out the phone. Very nice out there, though - every now and then a road ride in the rain is just what the doctor ordered. I hate my tires in this weather though -- I have extra thick sidewall 25's but they've got no tread pattern at all, so they're really slick in bad weather. Had to really take it easy in a few spots to avoid hitting the deck.
I rode in a clock-wise direction for a change and headed towards Califon. I saw a bunch of farmers and equipment baling hay in the fields just east of Califon.
Interesting how the hay baler gobbles up the dry hay like Pac-Man and then spits out a round bale.
I checked out the Califon Fireman's Carnival and went back for some funnel cake.
I decided against getting a "Califon burger" which I was told is a beef patty topped with pork roll. Perhaps it would be tasty if one likes ketchup on their taylor ham, but I do not think I would like it.
First part of the day was Moose Alley. We tried some new trails today but in the end they were not worth it. So next time it'll be the usual loop up then down the mountain. After Moose Alley I went and did a few things solo because I had an itch to scratch, only to realize that I was much further from the house than I expected.
Not so lucky with the rain this morning, but all things considered, it could have been worse. Was more of a drizzle than real rain... I'm sure the cop I saw in Bristol thought I was nuts...
I need to try Rain-X on my glasses. Had a couple of close calls because I couldn't see..
Had just a small window for a ride today. The wife came along and so we decided to stay on top of the ridge in order to avoid a big climb back home. Surprisingly, this ride still had an elevation gain of nearly 1,000 ft. I guess we chose a lumpy route.
Day 7. Again. I was having so much fun, I thought yesterday was day 7!
It is take your bike to work day, so I took it to project condo. Which happens to be near Jugtown Mt. I've been out this way before, mostly to ride the skylands tri course.
Legs felt like crap since I woke up. Was thinking about going early, but didn't happen. Rain stopped around noon, so I suited up. That's right. The singlet.
The plan was to see how I felt at the top of iron bridge, and make a decision. I made the right one. Legs were barely enough to climb ludlow station. But I managed to stay on the bike
We were supposed to go to 6-mile but Mother Nature had other plans for us. Managed to just get in an hour at Allaire before the sky opened. We had lunch in the van then headed back to campus.
Last day at Kingdom Trails. We had a great week and we topped it off today with a tour of the greatest hits. Did a solid 2 hour loop of the park then ended the day with some ice cream and team BS-ing until it was time for us all to part ways. At this point we were down to 9 of us with only 2 of the 9 going back to Jersey for sure. We're splitting off to Canada, New Hampshire, more Vermont, and 2 unknowns in there. So quite literally the house blew apart in all directions.
Reality starts to set in now as we drive to Canada (Bromont) then Montreal for tomorrow night then NJ on Sunday night then I am in Delaware for 3 days for work Monday through Wednesday. It's also raining up here so the next 2 days may dip into my overage reserve.
I was back out for an afternoon ride since the sun came out and I had to check the shifting on my Moonlander since Town Cycle made some adjustments and repairs. The Moonie has been shifting like crap and I couldn't stand it anymore. Town Cycle found the drop out was bent, the cable was frayed, and derailleurs needed adjustment. Shifts like a dream now! So I hit my local trail and sweated my a$$ off on Banker trail.
