Hey guys,

I got the itch to upgrade so I am selling my Pivot Mach 6 Carbon trail bike. The bike is size large and is a year 2016 model. I don't have a lot of time on the bike as I primarily ride my cross county bike (Mach 429SL). Bike is in good shape with normal scratches and such. There are no cracks in the carbon frame. Both the front and rear shocks were rebuilt in July, 2017 and have maybe 20 hours on them. The bike was fully serviced February, 2018 and is ready to go.

Specs:
- Large Mach 6 Carbon
- Fox Factory 36 (160mm) front fork (kashima coating)
- Fox Factory Float X Rear Shock (Kashima coating, 155mm)
- Shimano XT Cranks w 30T Wolf Tooth front chain ring
- Shimano XTR Rear Derailleur and cassette (setup 1x11)
- Shimano XT Brakes
- KS Lev Dropper Post
- Pivot Carbon Handle Bars
- Shimano XT rear shifter
- DT Swiss M1700 Spline 2 Wheels (Boost Wheels 148 x 12 rear and 110 x 12 front)
- Bontrager XR4 Team Issue 27.5 x 2.4 - Revised Tire. (About a handful of rides on these tires)
- Pedals, Garmin mount not included.

$3200

Frame (w/ Fox Float X, shimano BB, headset, boost thru axles) plus Fox 36 160mm (both shocks kashima coating) - $2100

Any questions, let me know.

So it kind of goes like this. With Pivots its what wheel size I am riding. I am a medium on the 429 Trail/SL. With 27.5" medium is too small, so I ride large. That doesn't mean I couldn't ride a medium if I wanted to, just more comfortable on the large. Its all a function of frame geo from the way Pivot explained it to me. When I demo'ed the Mach 5.5 I was sized large and for good reason. The medium frame was just too small. The same applied to the Firebird I rode. On the Switchblade 29er I was again a medium. If you look at Pivots height charts for each bike, they are pretty accurate.

Out of curiosity...how tall are you?

I'm 6' with long legs and short torso...My 429sl was a L and loved the fit. Interesting that you can bounce back and forth between the M and L based on wheel size with Pivot. I'm having a hard time deciding on my next Pivot...(Switchblade or 5.5). On paper the sizing between the 2 look identical...Have been on a Switchblade but not a 5.5 yet. What did you find were the real world differences in fit between the 2. I've been a 29er guy for a long time now although my DH is 27.5 (SC V10)...I'm leaning toward the Switchblade.

I will have to agree with you on 429SL my medium is a perfect fit. I am so in tune with the bike (tight feeling to the bike) that I just throw it around like a toy. Just for one comparison with the 429SL.

Seat Tube Length - 18.50 (medium) (Large is 20.00) vs. 18.00 (Large Switchblade)/18.00 (Large 5.5)

I noticed that right off the bat. I guess the best way to say it, I felt cramped on the medium switchblade and 5.5. I too have longer legs as well and felt like in order to compensate for the tight feeling I brought the seat up to where I was riding in the clouds or so it felt. The large 5.5 felt identical to the ride on my 429SL. Personally, I don't like the Switchblade, but its a very well built bike. I rode one for a couple of hours and I didn't think it was a very good climber compared to the Mach 5.5 and Mach 6. I want to say I didn't like how it decended on the creek trails, but I can't say that with conviction as I was having issues getting the suspension dialed for my ride style. The 5.5 is a great bike, the Mach 6 is better though.

I always post my bikes on Craigslist because for the comedy emails, but when someone tries to argue that the bike isn't worth more than $1000 and actually probably far less, I can't help but chuckle.

Thanks Glenn.

I would consider striping the bike and selling frame and fork together and would sell the DT swiss wheels as well.

Hello All,

As a follow up to my statement above, I am seriously considering selling the bike as a frame and fork option only. All of the components on the bike are in great shape, so bringing them over to a new frame and matching fork might just be the most economical idea and allow me the extra capital for say carbon wheels on i9 hubs or just plain old aluminum wheels on hope hubs. Build up wheels either way.

Frame (with Fox Float X rear shock and shimano bb)/Fork (Fox 36 -160mm) - $2100

Thanks

Just as an update, I am also including the headset and front and rear thru axles with the frame. So that makes it the frame, fork, bottom bracket, headset and front/rear thru axles. I am working through the pricing for a new frame and fork and a wheelset. If I pull the trigger, I am hoping to have the the stripped frame sometime next week.

Back-ordered my frameset and fork for the rebuild. Need to move my current frame and fork. If anyone knows of someone maybe not on MTBNJ that might be interested let me know. I am getting the same jokesters on Pinkbike that frequent Craigslist.

Updated pricing on the complete bike. I have someone who will buy the wheelset and frameset. Just figured I would do one last price drop before I do that.
