The Tourne 2015 trail work season will start on National Trails Day.

Saturday 06/06/2015 at 9 AM

We will be addressing some rogue trail problems and then working to improve the blue trail.

There will be an optional group ride after the trail work.

Meet at the upper parking lot by the playground which is only accessible from Old Boonton Road (Norris Rd). If you end up at the ball field, just walk up the road to the upper lot.

Work gloves and tools will be supplied.

Paydirt applies.

Hope to see you there.

A big thanks to Mike, Scott, Bill, Jim Greg, Norm and Matt for coming out to the JORBA National Trails Day work session at Tourne!!! We started work on the blue trail that has been neglected and unridable for years. The crew cleared 6+ large longtime trees …with hand saws! Also, rockwork was started for several areas of the trail. The trail is now passible except for a few short super technical spots that need additional rock work to level out the excessive baby heads. We hope to that that resolved soon.

The cleared section opens up .5 miles to the trail network and is technical with plenty of rocks and roots. It is more difficult than most of the trails at Tourne.

I was trying (unsuccessfully) to look at some of the older maps of The Tourne to see where the Blue Trail is. Can you describe how you'd access the restored section of trail?

Thanks to everyone who came out to finish the blue trail today!!! All of the problem spots have been resolved. This is now my favorite trail at Tourne :)

Representatives of JORBA attended the Mountain Lakes Woodlands Management Committee meeting to offer their trail maintenance services in benefit to the users of Richard M. Wilcox Park. The meeting proved to be constructive for the initial steps of starting dialog and establishing a working relationship with Mountain Lakes. This park is contiguous with the Tourne, but has a limited multi-use trail policy.

Cameron submitted a report this spring despite trail development being put on hold last fall. The person who approves all the trail work was out for awhile, which prompted the stop work order. The response to his very well written report was neutral. We will continue to promote improvements, but the focus of the MCPC is curbing the growth of rogue trails.

First time there this morning. Very cool place, nice mix of rocks and easier trails. Didn't see Curly but did see the old guy from duck dynasty wandering down a trail at a snails pace
