¼” torque wrench with ½” socket

The top cap of my forks call for a 24mm socket torqued to 65 in-lbs (7.3 Nm). Torque wrenches that low are ¼” drive. The 24 mm sockets are ½” drive, as a large socket is typically for higher torque. Socket adapters typically allow a larger wrench on a smaller socket (1/2” drive to 3/8” socket). This must come up all the time- what do you do? Forget the torque wrench???
Thanks in advance.

Do not worry about it. There is an o ring to do the sealing. The o ring will keep it from unscrewing even if you do not tighten the cap all the way.
Put oil on the o ring and be sure not to pinch it. Just give it a light tightening.

Thanks for the replies. I see that this is just a dust cap- hence the low torque. I thought it was holding it together.
mstyer- I have those adapters, but they are to use a larger wrench on a smaller socket- not the other way (ie ¼” drive to a 3/8 socket).
