I would say that options are actually less risky in terms of both monetary and directional risk than just being long stocks. It's all about managing the Greeks...delta, vega, theta and gamma. The key is to never buy options...except for maybe when volatility is really low and you want to take...

VTSAX is a good recommendation for set it and forget it. QQQ or SPY if you want to hedge or trade around your position with options. Something like a collar or covered call.

Wing Foiling is fairly new. You would either wind surf (could also wind surf on foil) or wing foil. I started wing foiling on a wind surf board. I needed to learn how to manage the wing before I tried to get up on foil.
