Sutton state forest, Sutton mass

Jmann

Never gonna let you down.
Sutton is my favorite trail system to hit when I visit my parents. It’s kind of in no mans land between providence and Worcester mass. I hadn’t been there in a couple years and there seems to have been a lot of new trail building since. The park is generally flat elevation wise but has a lot of short steep tech climbs. Overall typical New England gnar with lots of rocks and roots.
The par 5 trail is 4 miles of tight and twisty pine forest with good flow, and punctuated with rock outcroppings. Kind of like dropping a bunch of big rocks every 100 feet on a south jersey trail.

The rest of the park has some great tech trails, with ironic names like “tt bar”. And non ironic names such as “punisher”. My favorite trail is holy roller, which of course is a whole lot of rock rollers. Today was damp so unfortunately I had to keep off the throttle as the rocks were really slippery. And of course the photos don’t do the trails justice or show pitch. Some sections were really sketchy, especially when wet. Theres so many cool rock features I couldn’t begin to count. There’s very little info online on these trails, and I don’t think they get a ton of traffic, so I think this is the case of a few dedicated trail builders making awesome trails under the radar.
