It just so happens that this Sat, 8/19 is our regular scheduled trail maintenance. If you would like to join in on the fun...:D..
we meet at the marina parking lot 9AM. Look for the JORBA trailer. We provide the tools & gloves.

Man... what is going on with the wild cherry trees breaking off lately:eek:? Went for a ride today and covered the entire trail system west to east, including Van Nest and Blue north of the power lines. I find the top of a tree down after the ponds near Conover road. Took about 15 minutes to clear. I made sure to trim the branches back so if & when the trunk comes down they won't be in the trail (again).

How long ? Hour ?
That's relative, given that it all depends on your route and speed. If you park at the main marina parking lot you have 2 major options. Right which shoots you out to the tennis courts/around the lake to the other side and left towards the volleyball courts that shoot you to the west side and in the van nest section. If you go left, you have more of a 'loop' that will bring you back to where you parked. Right is more of an out and back depending on how you ride it. Below is a link to a map to help get you started. You'll soon find that there are many more unmarked trails at the park than actually on the map, but you have to really try in order to get lost...so explore and have fun! http://www.jorba.org/sites/default/files/2010_SMART_trail_map_0.jpg

What a beautiful day for a ride! Conditions are perfect... fast & dry.. not too many leaves down yet. Rode the entire park - VanNest to East Picnic area and then blue by the lake, the grail trail, SOB, and out to the power line to the blue north loop. Took down a nasty widow maker on BN. Get out there before it rains!

A large tree is down on the yellow trail on the Van Nest border. Huge mess.
You have to dismount and go under it (Carefully!)
Hopefully we can get it cleared in a few days.

stb222, Yup that's the mess. Thanks for posting the pic:thumbsup:
I am going back out later today with my big hand saw and try to take some weight off the top. Plus clean up the small stuff that is in the way. Hopefully, by taking some weight off it will not sink any lower before we can get out there to cut and remove the trunk with power saws..
