Going Long and Hard.

Ouchies. Went super hard out to control 2 just to pull the fast guys out of the group. But, I awoke a Swedish monster. Our small group quickly became 2 as we took turns at the front at 22+ average. We hit the 111-mile control in 5 hours but it hit me really hard as my legs are still tender from last week. We hit the next control at mile 126 before I popped and let him go. He rode off course and we hit the 151 mile control together but I took a fairly extended stop at 15 minutes or so. He put 28 minutes into me in 40ish miles. Hurt so bad but a sub 10 hour 300k is something I didn't expect. Was budgeting for 10.5-11 hours. Looking forward to the 400 next weekend, I feel like my legs are coming around with my ride a Brevet every week training plan.

Thinking about further, with huge 4x4 trucks being so popular down there, they need WaWas every few miles so they can fill up with gas...

Looks like fresh work on that drop to the bridge at RUEP. I like the left turn at the top, either you're on line or rut-row right after....

Wildwood 400k - AKA brevet #7 (in a row)

Plan for the day was to just cruise around at a steady pace and use this as the last training ride before the 600.

Stayed with the full group out to Control #2. A group of 6 or 7 split off to Control #3 and somewhere in there we ended up with 3.

We stayed together for the next bunch of controls. Between 7 and 8 we dropped Rich and it was just me and Dougin for the last 66-Miles. We pulled constant all the way to the finish without dropping pace despite being a guy short. All in all a nice long ride that came pretty easy at this point. Fitness is coming along nicely. If I can come up with the extra cash to hit The Longest Day I think I have a good shot of riding it faster than ever. Otherwise I'll wait until after the 600 and do it as a Perm.

The Longest Day coming up on Saturday. Doing with 2 other HB Team guys with an ambitious goal of breaking 10 hours all in. The original goal was 10.5 hours but I've done that Solo so I'm gonna make these guys work until they bleed.

Pretty short cheat sheet and minimal prep for this one. Really just doing it to help the team and take advantage of my current high fitness level.
