I'm flying out Saturday morning to visit my parents for the week. I'm bringing the cross bike Bc I know there is tons of gravel roads. I'm wondering if anyone's been down that way and can share information regarding areas of interest.

I was down in the Spring Hill area awhile back with my bike, didn't know where to ride, and stumbled on this. Nothing special, but in the general area of interest. Had the place to myself mid-week; plus it's fun to say:

We did some riding near Nashville last year. I did a bunch of research but only ended up getting 1 ride due to illness.

Here is the route we did. It was great. We started on the Natchez Trace which I thought was going to be great riding. Turns out Natchez Trace is pretty scenic for about 90 seconds then it gets really frigging boring. The backroads are where it's at.

Here are some other routes I had scouted out but did not do:

Femme Fondo 33 mi (around Natchez)

Femme Fondo 62

28 mi loop north of Franklin (a typical club route):

Weather has been in the 20's in the morning and I didn't pack my winter jacket. I waited till mid day to get out. Today it was just about 50 at the time I got out and moving. My parents live in the f'n sticks. Their road isn't even on google maps!! The only dirt I hit was in the driveway which is about .64 miles long.

I could of went two ways and either climbed this monster hill or fly down it. If you know me, I hate the hills and I opted for the easy ride today Bc my appetite has been dwindling and I'm not hungry 3/4 of the day(should I be concerned?)
To give a snap shot of the ride- it went down like this.
Huge clear cuts of land, log piles with a family of turkey vultures. Delapedated homes with rusted roofs, fat people driving a beat ass car wondering why I'm on a bike. Got chased by a dog(don't know what kind and it sounded f'n evil) but, it definitely ran into the road as a car was coming up behind me, I was waiting to hear "crunch" but that didn't happen.
Saw the "hill" sign and said a prayer that my wrenching was worthy of the speed I was about to hit- tucked in for the fun!! YEAHHH!!! Speeed! Followed by a short cruise up to the backside of the hill my parents are on. I got a flat 1/4 mile from home in the driveway. BOOO!
Pics are hard to upload in the woods.
I also got to watch re-fueling practice of helicopters in flight. Pics on strava

Thanksgiving morning ride! I was jealous I wasn't on any of the group rides. I mapped out a 20 mile loop in the "hood" and took more pics and mental notes of what's going on around my parents land. I knew this would be an adventure and figured I would share.

Chased by a total of 6 dogs, saw a business sign for "southern ammo and outfitters shop", a farm... Uniquely named "The Farm" (hippies). A wood home with dome frame around the whole place... It was like Epcot center without the outside panels, and a regular house inside of it, totally strange, I didn't want to take a pic with that. Here are some pics!
