Ok, let me bask in my glory (for about 10 mins) . I am the leader for this weeks rides in the halters club. I'm # 1

Here is my ride: https://www.strava.com/activities/355185798

I really hate the climb from crawfords corner to s holland. Its only a mile, but it says its a 3% grade and it sucks.

And I really don't know Jim V, but if he keeps riding my routes, I will never be 1st in the halters club on any segment I ride.

I can't make Saturday, I have a family party to go to.

Saturday is better for the ride to Halter's since that's also the first day to present your results and pick up the certificate. I might be able to join in on Saturday morning... I'll let you know if I can make it.

I am up for it as well. I was planning on being there when the doors open so if it's in my truck or on my bike it doesn't matter to me.

It just started pouring here... awesome... I guess I'll be puttering down the tow path in the rain again... I was hoping to do 6MR again, but looking at radar, it looks like the rain just got it... damn.

I'm out for Sat - just registered for an enduro down at Bryce in VA. Heading down Friday evening after work. That'll make Friday tough... I'm considering doing early AM rides like some of you folks do. Between work and the heat during the week (mid-90's - ouch!) I think it's worth trying to do.

where was I? Friday? I cant remember anymore
Saturday....took the road bike out for I think the 2nd time this month. Wanted to head over the split rock dam for the first time since they reopened it.

If you have never been through split rock...the road is I would say just passable with 28c tires...its pretty steep in spots, and the gravel/dirt is deep so you are spinning all over.

Like this until you get to the dam...which now looks like this

Quite hilarious to go from barely passable gravel, to a brand new road with a traffic light and fancy lamps. this is why I fucking hate paying taxes....3 traffic lights and two lamps on each side for a crossing in the middle of nowhere...this is brilliant.

Sunday me kirt iggy, woody and clapp started at TOS for a loop. We checked out the progress on white...Mad props to @pixychick @JR Zano and the ringwood trail crew....What is there now...Kirt and I rode down it at a pretty good pace and it took 8+ minutes....Amazingly fun! Thanks for all of your hard work, really great piece of trails.

thanks for the update joe!

7/27 - After working 9 hours the thing I most wanted in life was to ride through this shit hole:
https://www.strava.com/activities/355505351/

Looked for a few rides staring in Berlin, the town I'm currently in. They all went north so I picked one and followed it. This is ever so slightly more interesting that the canal. Maybe. I honestly put my head down and plowed the F through this ride. 47 miles, 21.2 average. Now I get to eat after I shower. I'm hungry.

On the month:
27 days, 30 or 31 rides
5 states
74 hours
855.3 miles
50,000 feet vertical

The 1000 mile mark is still in reach. Tomorrow night will likely be more of the same so I'll end up with 3 days to get 100. That sounds easy enough but if all goes well I'll be driving about 9 hours over 2 of those days and riding a MTB 1 of those days. So it could be a tight squeeze Friday. If all does not go well I'll easily hit 1000 because I will be in this dump through the week.

The last few days have been nuts. I'm in NY to ride the Erie Canal Trail. I'll have to post my rides later, but since Saturday, I did 73 miles, 116 miles and then 90 more today. I've got about 75 to do tomorrow, and then I'm taking Wednesday "off" where I'll only do an hour or so around Rochester and then Thursday I've got 80+ to do with a buddy of mine who is arriving in Rochester We'd night. I was hoping to do the whole trail both ways, but it's been over 90 with a really high dew point everyday and I'm kind of cooked. I decided today to take it easy on Wed after I finished today's ride and needed a three hour nap.

I've got a lot of catching up to do, it was a busy weekend and looks like a lot of good pics in here!

As for me, nothing too special in terms of riding, aside from the fact that I got my wife to ride yesterday which was awesome. We took is slow and easy on the DnR, which was good for me too since we spent 2 hours jumping around like lunatics at the My Morning Jacket show on Saturday night. Finished off the ride with her flatting a few blocks from home. She asked if I was going to fix it, I made her walk. Didn't want to waste a CO2 :D

Day 27. I had planned to ride 6MR or simply the tow-path after work today... but the weather had other ideas. A solid cell of "red" more than drenched Somerset and 6MR. I'll ride in a light to moderate rain, but a full-on thunderstorm with lightning and a wall of water you can barely see through... ah... no.

So I ended up going home and getting on the road bike for a barely sweat-breaking loop: https://www.strava.com/activities/355515022

Tomorrow I'm going to try getting up early and getting my hour in before getting ready for work. We'll see how that goes...

Still hanging on - though many days lately it seems like I am leaving the house just before 11 pm to get my hour in. There's just no time. :(

My little man loved the Army-Navy in Grand Gorge - they had a ton of old WW2 vehicles and an-almost restored E-Type Jag:

Day 27: Out with the jive, in with the love

My self loathing has cycled to a peak, well beyond being even somewhat motivational. So, I was at the hairy edge of "Eff it, whats the point anyway?" right up until 1030.

The fairytale version goes I got on my bike and everything turned out great. The real version goes I still feel like a piece of garbage, but at least I cant add quitter to the pile.

Wish I could be mad self assured like some, but im not. End of crybaby rant. Here's the ride:

Haven't posted in over a week, but I've gotten my rides in.
Wanted to ride while it was still light out tonight, but I couldn't tear myself away from the Glenn Quagmire vs. Gloria Steinem thread.

These lobster pots stunk so bad that I had to hold my breath while I took the pic

We had to go to a party in Oakhurst Saturday night, so I figured I would meet the family there and drive home with them. Wife says "fine, but you're not walking into the party in your bike clothes; you'd better find a place to shower and change somewhere".
Ok, switch to plan B; I ride locally, and then drive to the party.

http://app.strava.com/activities/354099062

This sets up a nice ride for Sunday after I leave my truck in Oakhurst to drive family and friends home safely in my wife's minivan when the party ends.

Sunday's ride wasn't so nice though, and I was almost discouraged enough to step out of the challenge. But I got over it. I'll finish the recap later.
