Yeah I was planning on hitting deer park this morning and it's a bit of a trek from where I live now... but sounds like I'd be risking a ticket essentially by parking in the lot. Guess I will have to take the gamble or go for a run local versus a ride

    To The Gap

Perfect.. thanks for the feedback. I figured it would be worth it just wanted to confirm. Now I just need to work out the when. The McDade trail looks like it could be a cool way to extend the trip and check out the falls which I haven't done since I was a kid. MattyB are you saying to use...

    To The Gap

Has anyone done the ride on the Sussex branch to the Paulinskill all the way out to the gap? I can get to the mooch lot off waterloo/start of Sussex pretty easily on bike from my house and was considering doing that ride all the way out to the river. Is it worth it? I know most of it will be...

    Bear Encounters?

I think I may have seen the same one on a ride a few weeks ago. Last year I was on blue around the pond (near the pines) and came around a bend and a little guy was just off the trail to the left, way close. He startled and headed up the hill and I hit the pedals hard worried that Mamma might be...

Best Places to Hit Pre and Post Ride?

Panther Pub is good.. decent beer selection and better than average pub'esque food. Maybe a tad pricey but I like the place. Salt can also be in the post ride mix depending upon where you are in north. Great beer selection and good food.

Awesome... Probably a bit more "flow" versus tech at this point. Ill probably stay off lumpy for this first ride but will definitely want to check it out at some point.

    First Time in Mooch Advice

Yeah I think I could handle a bit more than that...I guess my general question is, is north significantly harder then most everywhere in Stephens? I'm fine if I have to get off the bike in a spot or two. Trying to hurt myself less as I get older. I was thinking of parking off waterloo...

    First Time in Mooch Advice

Started riding in July.. have tackled deer park and most everything in Stephens. Can't do those epic >20 mile loops that some of you tackle quite yet, but can put in a solid 15 miles or so. Some climbs still kill me but I like it. Interested in hitting up Mooch this saturday if forecast holds...

    Stephen's Saturday 9/22

I kept an eye out for you all but was probably riding away from you the whole time. Its a few miles into Stephens from my house via fire tower or station so headed in from home versus driving. Had my first OTB experience since starting to ride late in July. Went green to white to blue(first on...

Looking for a solid North loop

Reggie I was the guy you helped navigate into deer park yesterday while talking to the couple with that amazing tandem... having only been on a mt. bike since July, riding up orange as you intimated, was humbling to say the least.... got about 3/4 of the way up before I had to hike a bit to the...

How many of you ride solo and how often?

I'm new to the mt bike world so for me it has been solo 100% on my rides so far. Have two friends who ride, one is waiting for his bike to get fixed and the other I haven't been able to motivate. I don't mind solo rides though. I snowboard and I would say outside of group trips and the...

    Now 26" is really dead

That is a very apropos analogy IMO. As someone just getting into the sport that was the first thing I thought of when figuring out what type of bike might be right for me 26, 650 or 29er. If you end up with 3 widely ridden sizes I could definitely see there being some confusion at the consumer...

BB7 brakes with spare calipers and rotors

I will be at the Mann as well.. it is one of my favorite outdoor venues. Sound is excellent and the place is small enough to have lots of great seats. The show there last summer was fantastic. You are in for a treat.. I have been to quite a few shows but they keep getting better. The setlist...
