I was there Monday when it was frozen and some areas had up to 2in snow. I’m sure that’s mostly gone now but with warm temps tomorrow it probably will be muddy in spots. Clayton does dry out well though so who knows
Figured as much if in and out early- thanks. Wasn't sure if it was worth the 1hr drive but sounds like it would've been since Allaire was pretty much the same Sat morning.
No one in the lot at 8am. Conditions were good. Coating of new snow in most areas, a few small sections of 2in or so old snow. I imagine it was getting slick after 11 where the sun was hitting
I rode Hartshorne yesterday morning. Was a bit concerned since it was above freezing but 90% was fine. There are a few shaded areas that still had snow but rideable. Early in the am over the weekend should be frozen until the sun does its thing
I was in Clayton this morning for a quick ride before it started to thaw out. I left around 9:30 and it was still frozen but some open areas where the sun was hitting was just starting to get slick. There are still some north facing areas that have a little snow/ice on the trail but 75% was...
Yes frozen footprints kinda ruin it. I know the drill- not a newbie...been at the mtn bike thing since early 90s :). Allaire can be good for some snow and/or ice fun if like you say, conditions are just right and the trails haven't been buggered up. I hit Clayton a week or so ago with spiked...
Thanks- yeah the amounts of snow in the area vary greatly within just a few miles. Maybe I'll try the spiked tires in a few days when it gets packed down and frozen over :)
How much snow did the area around Allaire get? I know this storm was very concentrated around 195 west to east. I see Natl Weather Service shows 3.5 in Ramtown
Good conditions this morning in Huber and Hartshorne. Just some small areas in the sun that were getting a bit slick. Only saw one other rider today..guess everyone goes to Allaire anymore.
