and how do you guys drink your whiskey ?

neat , splash of water , chilled by whiskey rocks ?

Neat with literally a drop or two of water-
As addicted said, it brings out flavors in the whisky nicely.

as far as single malts go I'm a fan of Glenmorange Sherry wood finish couple drops of water helps to bring the flavors of the scotch. Very smooth and really tasty:D

Try the Balvenie doublewood- you'll like it.

The few times I've had the Macallan's , it was neat ... tough to get used to ..again I'm used to Jack on the rocks ....

Suggestions for something to ease me into it as far as a brand ?

I'd say try any of the "Glens" single malt like Glenlivet or Glenmorangie. They're pretty light bodied.

If you're adding ice then let it sit a bit, else you're freezing out the flavor. Otherwise, just keep drinking and your palette will adjust.

Talisker 10

Just had a wee dram of this which I got for Xmas.
Very enjoyable- not sure how it eluded my radar for so long.
It is what you'd get if a laphroaig and a glenfarclas had a love child.
Enough snottiness and peat to remind you what you're drinking,
but with a real nice smoothness.

Anyone interested in a 10 day whisky tour, actually anything over 80 proof will do. For the reader's benefit leave some comments on the spirits. Not looking for you folks to kill bottles, so just a few sips and a review.

I'll start tomorrow, since already had the monkey shoulder today.

Looking forward to hearing about your contributions
