Its a little late in the season to be starting an after work ride but we're throwing out sense to get you out on the trail for a a little bit. And we'll carry on until the light kills the ride.

What are we talking about ? A beginner ride at Jungle Habitat on Tues nights, that's what. What we're going to do is link up the safari roads and some easier single track and do a no drop social fun ride through Jungle Habitat.

Meet up at the front gate around 5:30 for a 6pm sharp roll time. We may get 1 hour or so in in before it gets darkish but we'll keep to areas that hold light. We should be able to get a solid 60-75 mins of riding.

Bring a working mountain bike, a helmet and something to drink. We'll bring the tour guides and fun. All skills are welcome, no one is dropped.

Questions, direct them here: jungle@jorba.org

Update: the event has been moved to 9/26 (Sunday) due to a conflict with trail building....building trails are more important than a home made race.
What is this? A group ride that happens to be timed with a bottle of wine as the prize.
Format: Timed runs with riders separated by 1/2 minute intervals. Fastest person to go down, then up earns themselves a bottle of wine. If 5 or more girls ride, their prize is a bottle of champagne. If 5 or more singlespeeders show up, then their prize will be a bottle of wine. Strict adherence to the honor code and all IMBA rules apply.
The course: It is technical and requires fitness. A good expert class racer will finish the course in roughly 40 minutes. This course will reward the person with the best skills and engine- a true test of your MTB skills.
Where: The exact details of the course and location of the event will revealed at a later date, but it is within Westchester county.
Limited Seating:Capacity constraints keep this event to truly limited seating. Advance registration only. Please email to reserve your place. Due to the nature of the event, details are on a need to know basis and will not be release until a few days before the event.
Admission: No cost other than being a participant through out the ride. Come to the meeting point. Sign in and register. Hear the opening statement. Line up. Race. Finish. Stay for the brief closing ceremony and awards. At that point you are free to go ride and explore the most excellent trails.
The event is free with a few conditions:1.Due to the nature of the event the first rule of the bottle ride is don not talk about the bottle ride.2.One must be willing to have your picture taken. 3. Must return the number plate. 4. Finally, all rules apply. These include the following: A. It is a gentleman's (or gentlewoman's) ride, so obviously no cheating. B. If someone is hurt, please stop and help-this is about fun. C. IMBA rules apply.D. No drinking of the wine on site of the event- Anyway, one should be drinking fine wine with fine food.
Apres Ride: After the event and a good bit of dirt riding, riders are encouraged to go to the Local Brewery for booze and victuals at around 1PM.
When: Saturday the 25th of September. Sign in as 8.30AM. Ride starts at 9.30AM.
Please email for more details and entrance into the event: thebottleride@gmail.com

I hope to see you all out there.

Hello everyone,
I just looked in the other thread regarding the options for a ride from the top of the Skyline to Ringwood, but I still need some clarification. I rode Ringwood a lot in the past three years so no problems there. However, I have never tried going to Ringwood from the top of Skyline Dr. Is the trailhead across the street from the parking lot? Which trail should I take to Ringwood, and where will it take me out, once in Ringwood...this is in order to plan the RNG side of the ride. One last thing: what options do I have for the ride back?
Pfffff.....that's a lot of questions... Thanks a lot...in advance!

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d45/milo_/Picture032.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Here is a slide show of all the work he's done. Making a jig from scratch is no joke - maybe it's not an Anvil but it looks dialed in person. Female dropouts, seat clamp delete option, milled his own headtube and BB shell:
http://s32.photobucket.com/albums/d4...build_0001.mp4

Test ride of the new bike - Mike throws tables just as smooth as his TIG beads or is it the other way around :hmmm:
Sean, just turned 11, step-up line. Took him a bit, but he finally was nosing in and pumping tranny a bit. If he rode his bike as much as his surfboard he might be half decent :)

We had 10 Volunteers come out to this past Monday's TM at Dickerson Mine Preserve.

Kristine Angell
Robin Evensen
Joe Petrarca
Charlie Elfers
Bob Workman
Steve Filipponi
Philip Nergtz
Marc Engel
Jason Gonsalves
Marc Perez

We split into two groups - one did some hand bench cutting - the other did the foundation for a retaining wall on a switchback, all on the Beach Connector trail.
This trail is coming together nicely but there is still much work to do.
Thanks to all volunteers for your time and the quality of work you have dedicated to this project!
Please stay tuned to JORBA for the next scheduled TM as we will be taking off (hopefully riding) next Monday - Labor Day.
Enjoy the holiday!

Hey gang, my neighbors daughter recently had a baby, and they need to get rid of their dog. The dog is getting a bit jealous of the baby and acting up a bit. Its a 7y/o female Jack Russell named Roxy. The dog also has Addisons disease and requires some monthly meds.

Ideally they would like for someone to take the dog from them and give it the care it needs, but if not they are willing to donate it to a shelter that WILL NOT put the dog down. If anyone has any interest or knows of a shelter anywhere within reason that will care for dogs without(purposely) killing them, please let me know.

Thanks!

Hey everybody,
Just moved up to NJ from Florida in June. I have always ridden road bikes (triathlons), and am just now getting into mountain biking. I have a old steel Trek 800 that I put a front shock on to see how I enjoyed the sport. I went out to 6 mile run last Saturday and loved it. I plan to ride my Trek for a little while, and eventually move up to a better bike. The forum is great, and I have gained a lot of useful information just browsing through the threads.

Hope to see you on the trails,
Jonathan

On another note I am still not opposed to other frames. I'm looking for a good full suspension frame/complete. Any suggestions, lay em on me...

It's set up with a black brooks type saddle and black lock-on grips. I also have a brown concor (vintage) saddle and honey cork grips for it if you prefer a vintage look.

Anyone looking to change it up should try these out. The sprint races usually have a good mix of competitive folks along with a number of beginners. Your best bet is to team up with people of similar skill and ability, that way no one is bogging you down.

My only warning is be careful, they're addictive! Feel free to hit me up if you have questions, I've done 3 or 4 so I can probably help you out a bit.
